What’s included

A complete job, start to finish

Your written quote lists exactly what’s included for your home. A typical job covers:

  • Strip-out and rubbish removal
  • Repairs to framing, floors and wall sheeting
  • Plumbing and drainage rough-in
  • Waterproofing of the shower and wet areas
  • Floor and wall tiling
  • Vanity, toilet, shower screen, bath and tapware
  • Lighting and exhaust fan
  • Painting and final clean

Why it matters

Waterproofing is the part you never see

In Australia, waterproofing of bathrooms and other wet areas is covered by the National Construction Code, through its Housing Provisions or the Australian Standard for domestic wet areas, AS 3740.

A leak behind tiles is expensive to fix because the tiles have to come up to reach it. That’s why we take our time on the membrane, the falls to the waste and the junctions where walls meet the floor, before a single tile goes on.

  • Membrane on the floor and up the walls where required
  • Falls so water runs to the waste
  • Junctions and penetrations sealed
  • Time to cure before tiling

How it works

Step by step, no surprises

  1. Measure and plan

We look at the room, the plumbing and what you want to change, and help you check with a building surveyor whether a permit is needed.

  2. Choose and quote

You choose tiles and fixtures, and we give you a written quote and a timeline.

  3. Strip-out and rough-in

The old bathroom comes out, repairs are made and the plumbing and electrical are roughed in.

  4. Waterproof and tile

Wet areas are waterproofed and left to cure, then the floor and walls are tiled.

  5. Fit-out and handover

Vanity, toilet, screen and tapware go in, then a final clean and walk-through together.

Cost factors

What affects the cost?

We don’t publish one-size-fits-all prices, because two jobs that sound the same can be very different. These are the things that move a quote up or down.

  • Moving the layout

Moving the shower, toilet or vanity means new drainage and plumbing, often under the floor.

    Big influence on cost
  • Tiles and fixtures

Tile size and type, tapware, vanity and screen choices vary widely in price and labour.

    Big influence on cost
  • Behind the walls

Water damage, rotten framing or old pipes found during strip-out need fixing first. Homes built before 1990 may contain asbestos, which must be identified before strip-out and removed by a licensed removalist where required.

    Big influence on cost
  • Room size

More floor and wall area means more waterproofing, tiling and time.

    Some influence on cost
  • Extras

Shower niches, floor-to-ceiling tiles, heated towel rails and frameless screens all add work.

    Some influence on cost
  • Access

Upper floors, apartments and tight access can change how the job is staged.

    Some influence on cost

Every job is quoted in writing, so you know the scope and price before work starts.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can’t see your question? Get in touch and we’ll answer it directly.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

It depends on the size of the room, whether the layout changes and how long the waterproofing needs to cure. We give you a timeline for each stage with your quote, so you can plan around it.

Do I need a permit to renovate my bathroom?

Usually not when you’re replacing a bathroom without structural changes, but plumbing and electrical work must be done by licensed plumbers and electricians. Moving walls usually needs a building permit. See our permits guide.

Can you turn a bath into a walk-in shower?

Usually, yes. It depends on where the drainage can go and getting the right fall to the waste. We check this on the site visit and explain the options.

What does your bathroom quote include?

Strip-out, repairs, plumbing and electrical, waterproofing, tiling, fit-out, painting and the final clean. Your written quote lists everything included and anything that isn’t.
